Born and nurtured in Nanjing, China, meichen now makes her home in Brooklyn, New York. She holds a BA from NYU in philosophy, with complementary minors in cinema studies and economics.
Meichen’s intellectual focus encompasses mass culture theory, especially cinema, metaethics, epistemology, philosophy of mind, and the works of Dostoevsky and Kant.
At the core of meichen’s creative endeavors is the challenge to the viewer to transcend habitual patterns of perception, encouraging a more expansive and liberated view of self and the world. For meichen, the conceptual intent always precedes the choice of medium, thereby manifesting in diverse artistic forms such as photography, video art, and film.
Beyond the primary creative pursuits, meichen also practises acting — both in theater and on camera — and modeling. In collaboration, meichen assumes the roles of producer, creative director, and strategic manager to realize artists’ visions.
